What you'll do:
As Vice President Credit Manager EMEA at MUFG in London, you will immerse yourself in the dynamic world of corporate banking credit for high-growth technology sectors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you conducting thorough analyses of lending opportunities, ranging from venture-backed mid-stage companies to fully listed corporates, while collaborating closely with front line teams to ensure robust due diligence. You will play an integral role in monitoring portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks or opportunities through insightful reporting, and providing well-founded recommendations that shape strategic decision-making at senior levels. By participating in cross-functional projects and maintaining rigorous compliance standards, you will help drive sustainable growth while nurturing strong relationships within your team.
- Conduct comprehensive credit analysis for Growth & Mid Market Technology (GMMT) transactions across EMEA, engaging with front line teams on management calls and evaluating submissions using advanced rating methodologies.
- Monitor and review existing GMMT portfolio transactions regularly, making informed recommendations regarding credit decisions and ratings to senior management.
- Prepare detailed comparative statistics, graphs, tables, and narratives to provide senior leaders with insights into portfolio quality or emerging risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with the Front Line GMMT team to understand trends in the innovation economy and wider corporate finance market, contributing valuable insights to credit strategy development.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects aimed at refining risk criteria or policy in response to evolving market conditions while supporting intelligent growth initiatives.
- Draft reports for Tokyo Head Office and European Headquarters as required, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all credit committee materials produced.
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies by adhering strictly to established procedures throughout all aspects of your work.
- Support the Head of GMMT Credit EMEA by advancing credit risk frameworks, appetite settings, portfolio monitoring systems, and early warning mechanisms tailored for the innovation sector.
- Attend customer meetings alongside front line teams to develop deep understanding of client needs while fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.
- Contribute actively to building a collaborative team environment focused on continuous learning, mutual support, and shared success.

To excel as Vice President Credit Manager EMEA at MUFG, your background should reflect substantial experience within financial services, particularly in roles involving leveraged finance or lending into technology-driven sectors. Your proven expertise will encompass not only technical proficiency in credit assessment but also an empathetic approach towards teamwork and relationship-building. You will bring finely honed analytical skills supported by advanced education or professional qualifications where applicable. - Demonstrated experience working within a financial institution’s credit division covering leveraged finance or lending into the innovation economy or TMT sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of credit assessment processes and risk management principles relevant to structured finance products.
- Proven ability to manage regulatory audits associated with credit functions while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with both senior management figures and junior colleagues alike.
- A track record of contributing positively to team culture through collaboration, dependability, and a willingness to learn from others.
- Bachelor’s degree as a minimum educational requirement; advanced qualifications such as Master’s degree, CFA designation or recognised accountancy credentials are advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities coupled with sound judgement when navigating uncertain economic environments.
- Advanced problem-solving capabilities including adapting debt structuring solutions responsively for diverse client needs.
- Capacity for managing large workloads under tight deadlines without compromising accuracy or composure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Co-Pilot AI tools; ability to articulate strategic vision effectively.
