Job Description
Internal Grade: EB6
The Vice President, Engineering Excellence is responsible for leading technology for Technical Program Management, Quality & Eval Engineering, and Developer Experience & Internal Platforms. This executive oversees the practices, standards, and internal tooling that make every other engineering group in ESS Technology more effective and consistent, matrixing craft expertise into Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, and AI & Agentic Platform.
Reporting to the CTO, this leader will work across Experian's global business units to embed consistent engineering standards, quality practices, and developer-facing tooling that accelerate delivery, improve engineering productivity, and raise the bar on quality across both traditional software and AI/model outputs. The VP serves as the senior technology voice for engineering craft and standards, shaping enterprise practice, building world-class teams, and delivering measurable outcomes across one of the world's leading data and technology companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the technology strategy for Technical Program Management, Quality & Eval Engineering, and Developer Experience & Internal Platforms, scaling consistent standards adoption globally through a single career framework, quality bar, and tooling standard to enable growth, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
- Lead ESS Technology's quality and evaluation strategy, driving the development and governance of test strategy and quality standards for traditional software and evaluation frameworks for AI and model outputs across products, platforms, and internal operations.
- Partner with product, engineering, and regional leaders to prioritize cross-org technical programs and manage dependencies, applying disciplined planning rigor to ensure risk is visible and cross-team initiatives do not stall on unowned dependencies.
- Establish enterprise engineering standards, a single career framework and title spine, and developer tooling and CI/CD pipelines that accelerate engineering productivity and enable scalable, reusable practice across the business.
- Build and evolve Experian's internal developer platform and AI-assisted development enablement, evaluating and scaling emerging developer productivity technologies across the organization.
- Partner with executive leaders across Technology, Product, and regional organizations to align craft standards and program management practice with growth priorities.
- Shape enterprise engineering practice and quality standards by actively contributing to key leadership forums. Act as an ambassador for Experian's engineering excellence capability, enhancing the company's profile and influence within the broader engineering community.
- Engages regularly with senior leaders across the business, including regional Product senior leaders and regional CTOs across the US, UK, EMEA, APAC, and Latin America, requiring sustained senior stakeholder management across geographies and reporting lines.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
