Interim / Contract VP Finance

About the Company

High-growth, international technology business operating at the intersection of AI, data analytics and enterprise technology. With an established blue-chip customer base, strong financial backing and operations across multiple international markets, the business is entering an important phase of growth and organisational maturity.

We are looking for an experienced Interim / Contract VP Finance to provide senior financial leadership, strengthen financial discipline and support the leadership team through its next stage of growth.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced finance leader who enjoys working in entrepreneurial, technology-led environments and can combine strategic financial leadership with hands-on execution.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the wider leadership team and investors, the VP Finance will take ownership of the company's financial strategy, planning and performance.

You will provide the financial leadership required to support sustainable growth, improve visibility and control, and ensure the business is well positioned for future investment, commercial expansion and scale.

The successful candidate will be highly hands-on, comfortable getting into the detail where required while operating at VP level and acting as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Act as a senior financial partner to the CEO, leadership team and Board.
  • Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned to the company's growth objectives.
  • Provide clear insight into financial performance, risks, opportunities and strategic trade-offs.
  • Support leadership decision-making through robust financial analysis and modelling.
  • Establish appropriate financial governance, controls and reporting disciplines.
  • Take a hands-on approach to solving financial and operational challenges as they arise.

Planning, Forecasting & Performance

  • Own the annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes.
  • Build and maintain robust financial models covering revenue, costs, cash flow and headcount.
  • Establish clear KPIs and management reporting across the business.
  • Improve forecasting accuracy and provide meaningful variance analysis.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting that give leadership and investors clear visibility of business performance.
  • Personally lead analysis and modelling where required rather than relying solely on the wider finance team.

Cash, Working Capital & Funding

  • Take ownership of cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Monitor working capital and identify opportunities to improve cash conversion.
  • Support funding, financing and capital planning discussions as required.
  • Provide financial analysis to support strategic investment and resource allocation decisions.
  • Ensure the business maintains appropriate financial headroom as it scales.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
