About Global Operations

Global Operations combines the best practice in the provision of, mainly, Editorial, Customer Support and Order Fulfilment plus the training of staff, for the benefit of the LexisNexis Division. Global Operations is responsible for the ongoing development and success of REPH, which provides services for the whole of RELX. LexisNexis has combined a deep understanding of the legal profession with technology innovation to help practitioners work more productively, advise with confidence and better manage their organizations in a changing regulatory environment.

Role Purpose

The VP Finance partners the EVP Global Operations and their functional area leadership to develop business plans and financial analyses / tools, including budgets, capital allocation, and financial and operating metrics used to drive profitable results. This position specifically works across the Global Operations team to deliver world-class content and service to internal and external customers as efficiently as possible. A key success factor being the ability to balance cost with results, embracing change and new technology.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Providing sound financial support and insights to enable the EVP Global Operations to make critical strategic, not just operational, business decisions
  • Drive a culture of metricized data driven decision making.
  • Partnering with the functional area leadership to develop annual and strategic business plans in alignment with company goals for profitable results along with providing creative, quality insight to improve performance
  • Provide advice and counsel to leadership on interpretation of operating results, trends and milestones including assisting with recommendations as necessary.
  • Provides strategic financial leadership and support on the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, investments and/or other issues affecting the business.
  • Provides leadership for all financial processes including analysis and evaluation of cost/expense problems, profit improvement opportunities, development of business cases, capital spending analysis, financial/management reporting, cash flow analysis required to effectively manage the business in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Continuous improvement mindset embracing process change and use of automation tools as practicable.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of LN business unit performance to ensure GO can be as proactive a partner as possible, suggesting new ways of e.g. providing services and/or suggesting well thought-through organizational changes.

Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and performance reporting processes across all of Global Operations. Working closely with VP Financial Planning and Analysis for LexisNexis and LexisNexis Business CFOs.
  • Establish and monitor key financial and operational performance indicators.
  • Oversee financial modeling, scenario planning, and forecasting activities to support strategic decision-making.
  • Improve planning accuracy, reporting effectiveness, and financial transparency across the organization.

Governance & Controls

  • Instill a culture of integrity, ethics and transparency.
  • Steering Global Operations involvement in all major Group-wide back-office system changes.
  • Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors and support regulatory and reporting requirements as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
  • Leverage technology, analytics, and data to improve business performance and decision-making.
  • Provide governance over the company's financials and reporting as required by LexisNexis Group and RELX Group
  • Close collaboration with Global Finance Shared Services (GFSS) to ensure appropriate control environments are in place.

Cashflow Management

  • Manage funding for REPH so that it can achieve its growth potential.
  • Secure funding for strategic initiatives as required to allow Global Operations to e.g. embrace new technologies / systems etc.

Team Leadership

  • Leads team of financial professionals to perform broad range of financial processes including accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecast modeling, and reporting to meet company goals along with motivating, mentoring, and coaching performance to build strength within the team.
  • Positioning finance as a valued business partner, the team regularly interacting with senior management.
  • Support professional development and champion team members to gain wider experience.
  • Ensuring the GO Finance team is strategically aligned with other business unit finance teams enabling finance to act as a Global function within LN and RELX

Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
  • MBA and/or professional certifications (CMA, CFA, CPA) preferred or equivalent

Experience

  • 15+ years of successful, progressive and diverse accounting, financial analysis and reporting experience, preferably within large organizations with complex products and solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategy and planning initiatives.
  • Experience leading finance organizations across multiple countries, cultures, and regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people to get results through others, and maintain executive relationships, work cooperatively in team environment and influence across matrix organizations to achieve organizational goals.
  • Executive level communication, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Demonstrated success in performance management; includes holding people accountable for clearly set standards and objectives, giving explicit direction regarding performance expectation and acting to address performance through effective coaching, training and performance management.

Compensation

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $156,700 - $290,900. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates. This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
