Java Full Stack Engineer

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Java Full Stack Engineer to join our team. This role is located in Manchester.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science/ engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • Strong software development experience, including hands-on delivery of production-grade applications and increasing responsibility for technical design, operational support, or engineering leadership.
  • Strong proficiency with Java, SQL and Git
  • Proficiency with Data Standards & Data Modelling
  • Proficiency with text-based formats like XML & JSON
  • Strong Proficiency with messaging frameworks – MQ / Kafka
  • Proficiency with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Integration
  • Experience with automated unit, integration, and system testing, together with DevOps practices for build, deployment, release validation, and production support.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications on cloud or container platforms, with an understanding of orchestration, configuration, resilience, and operational monitoring.
  • Comfortable in Windows and Linux environments
  • Previous experience designing and implementing new systems and features
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, and Moogsoft, including dashboards, alerts, log analysis, and service-health reporting.

  • Proven ability to analyze Production Support workflows, identify repetitive manual tasks, and deliver reliable automation for evidence gathering, health checks, ticket enrichment, reporting, and operational recovery.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Java and at least one scripting language such as Python or Shell, with experience integrating REST APIs and working with JSON and XML.
  • Experience with Linux, SQL, messaging platforms such as IBM MQ or Kafka, containerization, and CI/CD tools including GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, or equivalent technologies.
  • Solid understanding of production incident management, root-cause analysis, runbooks, operational controls, change validation, service-level objectives, auditability, and human approval requirements for risk-bearing actions.
  • Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Production Support, Application Development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Understanding of the regulatory and control landscape relevant to software development in financial services, including secure development, change management, data protection, auditability, and segregation of duties.
