The Role
This sales role is part of the UK HSBC Innovation Banking Treasury & Trade Solutions (“TTS”) team. As a Vice President I (“VP I”), you will be an established sales and portfolio-coverage professional with independent accountability for a material client portfolio and associated commercial outcomes. You will originate, structure and convert complex opportunities across Cards, Cash Management, Payments, Liquidity, Digital Channels, Trade Finance and Integration solutions, while acting as a trusted adviser to clients, relationship teams and senior stakeholders. The role also carries responsibility for portfolio strategy, disciplined execution, risk ownership and leadership across the wider TTS team.
The TTS team sits within HSBC Innovation Banking’s Commercial Organisation and works closely with Innovation Markets, Product Implementation, Proposition, Pricing & Enablement, Product Management, Risk, and Marketing. The VP I is expected to lead cross-functional activity, influence priorities and represent TTS credibly in senior internal and external forums. This is a hybrid role based in London.
The role has the following responsibilities:
- Own a material portfolio as the primary TTS contact, setting account strategies and independently originating, progressing and converting opportunities across the full domestic and international product suite.
- Lead complex client discovery and sales discussions, diagnose treasury needs and design commercially viable solutions that reflect client strategy, operational requirements, risk appetite and product suitability.
- Take end-to-end accountability for opportunities from qualification through pricing, approval, implementation and revenue recognition, maintaining accurate pipeline, call-report and sales-suitability records.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within delegated authority, preparing robust exception cases where required and balancing client value, profitability, conduct and risk considerations.
- Develop senior, trusted-adviser relationships and maintain high client satisfaction, retention and product penetration across the assigned portfolio.
- Use client, portfolio and pipeline data to identify whitespace, prioritise prospects, forecast outcomes and shape targeted sales campaigns and segment plans.
- Lead coordinated execution across Relationship Management, Product, Implementation, Servicing, Operations, Risk and international partners; escalate issues early and drive timely resolution.
- Commercialise liquidity and investment solutions, including client access to money market funds, ensuring appropriate governance, suitability and completion of required certification and training.
- Contribute to portfolio and segment strategy, product pilots, proposition development and process improvement, translating frontline insight into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day leadership without formal line-management responsibility by coaching Associates, sharing expertise, improving team standards and supporting effective allocation of work.
- Maintain strong market, sector, product and regulatory knowledge, including emerging treasury technologies, and apply this insight to improve client and commercial outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
