Team Overview

Jefferies' Mergers & Acquisitions team is a leading advisory franchise providing strategic advice to corporate clients, financial sponsors, entrepreneurs, and boards of directors across a broad range of industries. The team advises on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, joint ventures, minority investments, hostile situations, defence mandates, and other complex strategic transactions.

The London M&A team operates as a central advisory platform, partnering closely with industry coverage teams and product specialists across EMEA and globally to deliver independent strategic advice and exceptional transaction execution. The group is involved in many of the firm's most significant and high-profile transactions, offering exposure to a diverse client base and a wide range of industries.

Position Summary

Jefferies is seeking a Vice President to join its M&A team in London. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the execution of complex M&A transactions while supporting senior bankers in originating new business opportunities. Vice Presidents are expected to manage transaction processes, oversee junior team members, maintain direct client interaction, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the franchise.

This position offers significant responsibility, client exposure, and the opportunity to work on some of the most complex strategic transactions across Europe.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Execution

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory, and corporate finance assignments.
  • Manage transaction workstreams from initiation through signing and completion.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes and liaise with clients, legal advisers, accountants, consultants, and other external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial analyses, valuation materials, board presentations, information memoranda, and transaction documentation.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of all client-facing materials.

Financial Analysis

  • Review and guide sophisticated financial modelling, including:
    • Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis
    • Trading and transaction comparables
    • Accretion/dilution analysis
    • Merger consequences analysis
    • Leveraged buyout analysis
  • Assess strategic alternatives and transaction structures to support client decision-making.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build trusted relationships with clients and maintain regular interaction with senior executives.
  • Participate in client meetings, board presentations, and strategic discussions.
  • Act as a key day-to-day point of contact throughout transaction processes.

Business Development

  • Support senior bankers in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to pitching activities and strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Prepare and review client presentations, industry analyses, and transaction ideas.
  • Monitor sector developments and broader M&A market activity to identify opportunities for clients.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Analysts and Associates.
  • Review financial models, presentations, and other work products.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture while fostering professional development within the team.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a strong academic track record.
  • Degrees in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, or related disciplines are preferred.

Experience

  • Relevant investment banking experience with substantial exposure to M&A advisory.
  • Demonstrated track record of executing complex transactions.
  • Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, deal structuring, and transaction processes.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop junior professionals.
