Model Validation Vice President
MUFG, one of the world’s most respected financial groups, is seeking a Model Validation Vice President to join their EMEA Model Risk Management team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to contribute your expertise in quantitative modelling and model validation within a globally renowned organisation that values integrity, transparency, and shared growth. You will work closely with risk analytics professionals and front office quants, ensuring robust model governance and compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and periodic validation of quantitative models used across various asset classes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Design, model, and prototype challenger models independently to provide alternative perspectives on existing methodologies.
- Perform comprehensive quantitative analysis and review of model frameworks, assumptions, input data, and results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Test numerical implementations of models thoroughly while reviewing associated documentation for completeness and clarity.
- Check compliance with governance requirements by evaluating processes against established standards and policies.
- Document findings meticulously in validation reports, including raising recommendations for improvements to enhance model performance or mitigate risks.
- Ensure timely tracking of remediation actions following validation recommendations to maintain high standards of model quality.
- Prepare detailed model risk reporting for presentation to Model Oversight Committees and the Board, supporting effective decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with Risk Analytics teams and Front Office quants to facilitate knowledge sharing and support ongoing model enhancements.
- Stay informed about the latest technical developments in financial mathematics, pricing methodologies, and risk modelling techniques.

Requirements
- Experience in quantitative modelling (development or validation) within counterparty credit risk or derivatives pricing models.
- Experience specifically developing or validating xVA models within a financial institution or similar environment.
- A postgraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, mathematical finance or econometrics.
- Strong background in mathematics and probability theory applied to finance contexts.
- Proficient programming skills in Python or R (or equivalent), enabling effective implementation of complex models.
- Solid understanding of simulation techniques and numerical methods relevant to financial modelling.
- Good knowledge of data science principles and statistical inference techniques applicable to risk assessment.
- Awareness of current technical developments in financial mathematics, pricing strategies, and risk modelling approaches.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for clear explanation of technical matters to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with a structured approach to problem-solving.
