Job Description

Location:

London, GB

Condé Nast is one of the world’s most renowned media companies creating and distributing every type of media today – print, video and film, digital, audio and social. Our company is home to iconic brands including Vogue, The New Yorker, GQ, Glamour, AD, Vanity Fair and Wired, among many others. The company's award-winning content reaches 84 million consumers in print, 367 million in digital and 379 million across social platforms, and generates more than 1 billion video views each month. We are seeking a Vice President of Communications to lead our communications in the UK, a market essential to our global brand presence.

Based in London, this person will shape how Condé Nast, its brands and its leaders show up across the British media and cultural landscape. The remit spans the full breadth of the business: from Condé Nast’s commercial strategy and corporate reputation to the journalism, editors, talent and cultural moments behind brands including Vogue, GQ, WIRED, Condé Nast Traveller, Glamour, Tatler, House & Garden and The World of Interiors.

This is both a U.K. leadership role and a senior position within Condé Nast’s global communications team. The VP will lead the U.K. communications team, advise senior executives and editorial leaders, and work closely with communications colleagues around the world on issues and opportunities that increasingly cross markets.

Condé Nast thrives on collaboration, and our teams come together in the office four days a week (Monday - Thursday).

We value diversity of background, views and cultures. We celebrate people for their personal qualities, skills and contributions, recognising the power our brands have to influence and shape culture.

The leadership role reports to the Global Communications Officer and the position is based in London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Condé Nast’s communications strategy and reputation in the U.K., with a clear point of view on where the company and its brands should be part of the conversation.
  • Lead corporate, business and brand communications across Condé Nast’s U.K. portfolio, spanning commercial priorities, editorial initiatives, talent, launches, partnerships and major cultural moments.
  • Lead and develop the U.K. communications team, setting priorities and creating ambitious, high-quality work across a complex portfolio of brands.
  • Serve as a senior member of the global communications team, working closely with the Chief Communications Officer and senior communications leadership on company-wide priorities and issues.
  • Advise and position senior U.K. and European leaders on media strategy, messaging, speaking opportunities and reputation.
  • Advise editorial leaders how to achieve maximum impact and external awareness for their work. Implement plans to do so.
  • Build communications around Condé Nast’s journalism and editorial leadership, identifying where our editors, writers and creative talent can shape conversations beyond our own platforms.
  • Bring a deep understanding of the British news, business, media, technology and cultural landscape, spotting opportunities early and knowing when Condé Nast should lead a conversation, join one or stay out of it.
  • Maintain strong relationships with influential journalists and editors across national, business, trade, broadcast and cultural media.
  • Lead communications through sensitive and high-profile issues, providing clear counsel to senior leaders and coordinating responses across functions and markets.
  • Work closely with editorial, commercial, consumer marketing, people and other teams to turn business priorities into compelling external narratives.
  • Write and oversee sharp, high-quality communications materials, from messaging and executive briefs to announcements, Q&As and statements.
  • Help shape how Condé Nast communicates globally, bringing ideas, judgment and lessons from the U.K. market to the wider communications organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

  • A senior communications leader with significant experience in media, publishing, entertainment or another business where brands, talent, culture and corporate reputation intersect.
  • A problem-solver that tries new approaches and unexpected ideas.
  • Deep knowledge of the U.K. media landscape and strong, current relationships with the journalists and editors who shape business, media and cultural conversations.
  • The ability to move comfortably between corporate reputation and brand storytelling, and to understand how the two reinforce each other.
  • Excellent news judgment and a strong instinct for what makes a story, rather than simply what makes an announcement.
  • A sophisticated understanding of how media consumption, platforms and influence are changing, particularly in the U.K., and what that means for modern communications.
  • A track record of advising senior executives and high-profile talent, including in complex or sensitive situations.
  • Significant crisis and issues-management experience, with the judgment to operate calmly and decisively when the stakes are high.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing communications teams.
  • The ability to operate effectively across a global organization, building strong relationships across markets, brands and functions.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complicated ideas clear, concise and compelling.
  • Approximately 12+ years of relevant communications experience. We are more interested in the depth and quality of that experience than where you acquired it.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through uncertainty and change, providing a steady and confident hand during business transformation.
  • Proven experience in managing enterprise-level accountability, ensuring communications strategy is seamlessly aligned with broader business objectives and cultural values.
