About Descrial
Every alternative investment firm is now doing something with AI. Very few have reached the point where it carries real work day after day, across diligence, portfolio monitoring, value creation and fundraising. Descrial is the work execution platform built to close that gap. That means making AI-assisted work reliable and repeatable enough that people making investment decisions will trust it.
We are a venture founded and funded by TresVista, whose 400+ clients span the industry, from the largest global asset managers and private equity names to mid-market funds.
We are hiring a VP of Engineering to own the platform and build the UK engineering team, ahead of our V2 launch in early 2027.
What Makes This Different
- You are not joining a company that has to go and find its first buyers. You are joining one with a route to several hundred of them
- The category is filling with general-purpose AI search and copilots. Ours is different: domain expertise built into the product, not bolted onto it
- You own the architecture, and the authority to change it
- You are the senior technical voice in the company
The Team
- You lead engineering in both locations. Bengaluru has an established engineering team reporting to you, including principal and lead engineers, a solution architect and a QA function. In the UK you would be our first engineering hire, with 17 further engineering roles approved: machine learning, front and back end, cloud and solution architecture, and a cyber security lead.
- You own all of it: the architecture, the standard, and how consistently it is held in both places.

What You Will Own
- The architecture end to end: service boundaries drawn on data ownership, a clear separation between the transactional core and the AI engine, and the technology roadmap
- The engineering standard, and getting a team to genuinely adopt it: CI, automated testing, static analysis, code review, release discipline
- Security architecture for a multi-tenant platform holding confidential investment data, plus SOC 2 and ISO 27001 readiness and enterprise client security reviews
- How AI is engineered here: agentic workflows, retrieval quality, and evaluation gating changes before they ship
- Delivery cadence, and the cost envelope of what gets built, with the VP of Product
What We Are Looking For
- You have owned the architecture of a multi-tenant enterprise platform, and can walk through the boundary decisions you made and what you would now do differently
- Five years or more leading engineering teams, including hiring strong engineers and running delivery across more than one location
- Strong grounding in platform security, and the diligence regulated buyers run
- Production experience with LLM or agentic systems, built evaluation-first rather than demo-first
- A track record of raising an engineering standard and getting people to adopt it

Our stack spans the JVM and Python, so you should be comfortable across both. We are not screening on years in a particular framework.
Good to have:
- Financial services or another regulated industry where security diligence gates revenue
- Schema-first contract governance
- LangGraph, MCP, RAG and graph-backed retrieval
- AWS at scale with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code
Practical
- Location: central London (King’s Cross)
- Compensation: we have a band for this role and we will stretch it for the right person. We will tell you the number in the first conversation rather than at offer stage. Meaningful equity in the venture on top
- Right to work: we cannot sponsor visas for this role
- Process: introductory conversation, technical assessment, interview with a senior member of the team, final conversation with Executive Leadership. We aim to complete within three weeks
