Much Better Adventures was founded in 2012 by Alex Narracott, Sam Bruce, and Guy Bowden from a chalet in the Alps, with a single-minded goal: to protect the world’s wild places, one adventure at a time. Creating jobs and sustainable livelihoods in wilderness areas is essential to the conservation of them. Adventure travel is one of the best solutions society has! The ambition here is clear – MBA are looking to build a major global brand that people trust with the most important moments of their year, and mobilise millions of people to spend more time out in the wild. If MBA succeed, they’ll have a huge positive impact on people’s lives, create thousands of jobs in rural areas, and help finance the protection of the world’s wild places. The group is a multi-million pound business entering an ambitious growth phase, driving impressive revenues, and strengthening their position as the leader in community-driven adventure travel.

It’s a very exciting time to join MBA. They’re building at an impressive rate, and coupled with the recent investment from Gresham House Ventures, this will serve to create a platform for them to continue their growth journey across the UK, Europe, and into the US. In today’s world, digital and technology are the cornerstone of any successful business to enable robust service, as well as delivering a customer experience of excellence. MBA are no different. As they mature and scale, there is now a requirement to appoint a VP, Engineering to report into, but work alongside the Chief Product Officer.
Responsibilities
The VP will lead and develop the team and drive engineering innovation. You’ll seek to create a joined-up group who are excited by the future direction. There is much in the pipeline, including the launch of a new mobile application and the continued journey of AI adoption. Now is the time to appoint a new leader who can shape and deliver best practice to the engineering discipline, ensuring it’s delivering the required value and commercial return daily. The tech stack includes Python (Django, FastAPI), Postgresql, and React, amongst others. Whilst this is a leadership role, the newly appointed VP will be required to fly at all levels, including challenging engineering thinking, overseeing code reviews, and mentoring existing and new team members.

Compensation
Compensation: Competitive basic salary + bonus + equity + package
