Vice President, Operations Product Owner

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Business Technology Liaison to join our Execution Services Platform. This role is located in Manchester

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • An operational Product Owner for Execution Services is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering product capabilities that support the execution lifecycle across post-trade workflows. This role acts as the bridge between business stakeholders, technology, and operations/end users to ensure solutions are aligned to business strategy, regulatory obligations, client needs, and operational efficiency goals.

  • The Product Owner owns the product backlog, translates strategic priorities into actionable requirements, and works closely with cross-functional delivery teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and user-centered execution services capabilities.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Markets Operations.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring priorities are aligned to business value and strategic outcomes.
  • Act as the primary decision-maker for day-to-day trade-offs within the product scope.
  • Support and lead complex Operations-focused initiatives across Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives to enhance client experience and product capability, improve operational scalability, standardize global processes, reduce operational risk, and improve margins while lowering costs.
  • Support process optimization and automation opportunities across execution workflows.
  • Lead projects end to end, from strategic analysis and solution design through implementation, execution, and ongoing refinement to drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and define business requirements, translating them into clear functional and operational specifications.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams in sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Manage deliverables collaboratively across stakeholders, ensuring clear alignment, accountability, and execution against timelines.
  • Design and execute testing strategies and methodologies, including use case development, scripting, user acceptance testing, and regression testing through both manual and automated approaches.
  • Support the testing of new and enhanced functionality or systems, including test case and scenario development, requirements traceability, test preparation, script writing, and functional validation.
  • Drive Operational Readiness by ensuring business teams are engaged, trained, and prepared to adopt changes and new solutions successfully.
  • Ensure product features meet control, governance, audit, and regulatory expectations.
  • Apply strong project governance practices, including effective use of Jira and Confluence, to deliver projects and programmes in a controlled and transparent environment.
  • Monitor product performance, adoption, operational stability, and user feedback to inform enhancements.
  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a similar role within financial services, capital markets, or execution-related services.
  • Strong understanding of markets, execution services, and associated front-to-back workflows.
  • Knowledge of post-trade, middle-office, and operational support models, with experience in Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, and Equities Operations preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects and driving product, process, or operational change in complex environments.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with the ability to execute effectively in short sprint cycles across cross-functional teams.
  • Scrum Product Owner certification, or an equivalent Agile certification, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business challenges into practical product, operational, and process solutions.
  • Strong understanding of business and functional requirements, process mapping, and solution design.
  • Experience with testing, including test scripting, execution, and support for user acceptance and regression testing.
  • Experience with workflow automation, service optimization, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to support prioritization, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with risk, controls, compliance, and regulatory considerations within financial services.
  • Experience with product management and delivery tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Alteryx, Power BI, test automation tools, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, perform well under pressure, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
