We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, POM Product Owner, to join our BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform team. This role is located in Manchester, UK.

In This Role, You’ll Make an Impact in the Following Ways:

The Product Owner will lead the Liquidity Management pod in the Core Processor Group, which is one of the groups within the BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform with the mission to own the execution, orchestration, and lifecycle management of payments across the Payments Enablement Platform, ensuring payments are processed accurately, consistently, and resiliently regardless of rail, product, or channel. This group defines and delivers the core payment behavior that sits between payment intake and payment rail execution.

Key Responsibilities of the Product Owner Would Be to Manage the Liquidity Management Pod Within the Core Processor Group, Including:

  • Own and manage the product backlog for the pod, ensuring alignment with platform OKRs and strategic priorities.
  • Drive product outcomes that strengthen intraday liquidity visibility, funding efficiency, payment prioritization, and control effectiveness across the payment lifecycle.
  • Partner with business, operations, treasury, risk, and technology teams to evolve liquidity management capabilities that support resilient payment processing and effective exception handling.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product delivery and operational decision-making through responsible use of data, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize backlog items to balance new feature delivery, technical debt, and platform resiliency.
  • Lead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives in partnership with the Scrum Leads and development team.
  • Ensure solution designs align with long-term architecture and platform vision.
  • Monitor and measure pod’s performance, using data to inform decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of payment related information to internal Lines of Business (LoBs), external clients, 3rd party providers, and market infrastructures enabling smooth operations, maintaining client trust, and supporting compliance.

To Be Successful in This Role, We’re Seeking the Following:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in transaction banking, with at least 5-7 years in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst role.
  • Proven experience working on payment processing with focus on channels and messaging.

Domain Expertise

  • Understanding of end-to-end payment lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of payment rails: wires, ACH, instant payments, and emerging networks.
  • Strong understanding of payment infrastructures and market utilities (e.g., SWIFT, CHIPS, Fedwire, SEPA, RTP, CHAPS, TARGET2, EPN, FED ACH, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of payment message formats and standards such as ISO 20022, SWIFT MT, NACHA, and proprietary bank formats.
  • Knowledge of liquidity management concepts in payments / transaction banking, including:
    • intraday liquidity
    • prefunding
    • funding optimization
    • account balances
    • liquidity positions
    • payment release decisioning
  • Understanding of how liquidity controls impact:
    • payment orchestration
    • payment prioritization
    • queuing
    • limits
    • exception management
  • Experience across payment types / rails with awareness of liquidity implications for:
    • real-time payments
    • high-value payments
    • batch payment flows
  • Familiarity with:
    • nostro / vostro account structures
    • settlement processes
    • cash positioning
    • reconciliations
  • Ability to work across Treasury, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering
  • Understanding of:
    • operational risk
    • resiliency
    • controls in a high-volume payments environment
  • Ability to translate liquidity and payments requirements into:
    • product features
    • user stories
    • measurable business outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Product Ownership & Agile Skills

  • Experience as a Product Owner in Agile/Scrum environments, with a solid grasp of Agile principles, ceremonies, and backlog prioritization/management.
  • Ability to write clear and actionable user stories, define acceptance criteria, and manage a product backlog.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills — capable of balancing the needs of operations, compliance, IT, and clients.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams, testers, and business SMEs to deliver high-quality solutions.
