This role is ideal for a documentary video editor passionate about crafting compelling, character-driven stories. You will be responsible for editing a series that explores the lives of ride-share drivers in Accra, focusing on their daily experiences, ambitions, and connections to the city. The project requires transforming raw interviews and B-roll footage into cinematic episodes ranging from 15 to 45 minutes, each centered on a different driver. The position is remote, project-based, and offers the opportunity for future collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and assemble documentary episodes from raw interviews and B-roll footage
  • Shape narrative arcs that highlight the personal and professional lives of ride-share drivers
  • Apply advanced audio mixing and colour grading to achieve a cinematic, emotionally resonant style
  • Select and implement tasteful transitions and pacing to enhance storytelling
  • Collaborate closely with the project lead to ensure creative vision and deadlines are met
  • Deliver final episodes in required formats, ready for distribution

Skills And Requirements

  • Proven experience editing documentary or character-driven video content
  • Strong storytelling instincts and ability to craft engaging narratives from real-life material
  • Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar)
  • Advanced skills in audio mixing and colour grading
  • Ability to create intimate, observational, and emotionally grounded films
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high production standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Availability for immediate start and timely delivery of episodes
  • Prior experience with projects set in urban or cultural environments is a plus
