About Kensal Studios
Kensal Studios is a sports IP studio that turns influence into ownership. We work directly with professional athletes and sports organizations to build owned shows, media brands, and IP. We are building a trusted roster of freelance editors we can bring onto projects as they come up, with the goal of developing long-term working relationships with the people who deliver.
The Role
We're looking for a remote contract video editor to join us on a monthly retainer as the editing engine behind our clients' media properties. You'll own post-production across a slate of athlete-led shows: cutting long-form YouTube episodes and turning them into a steady pipeline of short-form clips for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts.
What You Will Work On
- Project types include flagship shows for athlete-owned media properties, short-form clip packages on a weekly cadence, live tournament and event coverage edits, athlete brand content and social-first storytelling, show trailers and launch assets, and documentary-style features.
- Edit long-form YouTube episodes (typically 15–25 minutes) from multicam recordings — expect around 3–4 hours of footage across 2 cameras per episode.
- Sync, select, and structure conversations into tight, watchable episodes with strong pacing and clean audio.
- Cut 5–10 short-form clips per episode, reframed for vertical (9:16) with captions, hooks, and platform-native pacing.
- Apply each show's brand system: titles, lower thirds, transitions, end cards, and thumbnails-ready frames.
- Colour-match cameras and mix audio to a consistent, professional standard.
- Manage project files, versioning, and delivery through a shared workflow (Frame.io or similar).
- Turn around episodes on a reliable weekly or fortnightly cadence, with revisions handled promptly.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For
- You have a portfolio that demonstrates excellence in your track. Short-form applicants should show clips with evidence of performance, not just polish. Long-form applicants should show complete pieces with real narrative structure. If you work across both, show us your best in each. In every case we want taste, judgment, and proof the work connects with an audience, ideally in sports or culture.
- You are fluent in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effect, or Capcut. Whatever gets the job done! You are comfortable working inside a defined brand system, following templates and style guides while still bringing creative judgment to every cut.
- You are reliable on deadlines and communicative on revisions. Our clients are professional athletes and media partners with real publishing schedules. Turnaround discipline matters as much as creative quality. You can work asynchronously across time zones, take structured feedback well, and flag problems early rather than late.
- You care about sports. You do not need to be an expert in every league we touch, but you should understand why a moment matters, and your edits should reflect it.
