Video Editor & Motion Designer (freelance)
Around 10-20 hours/week initially · London preferred · Remote
LeanTeams is recruiting a freelance Video Editor & Motion Designer for an early-stage software company building a research companion for researchers and academics.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong video editing with motion design and can make a complex product clear and engaging. You’ll help develop the company’s content for Instagram and YouTube, working directly with the person leading its content direction.
Video editing is the main priority. Strong motion design and the ability to create supporting graphics are also important.
The work
- Edit presenter and creator footage: select useful moments, shape the opening, refine pacing and produce natural, engaging videos.
- Create product walkthroughs and SaaS explainers using real screen recordings, narration, captions, and supporting animation.
- Combine footage and motion thoughtfully, using zooms, callouts, and simplified visuals to make the product easier to understand.
- Handle dialogue cleanup, sound balance, music, and basic colour correction.
- Adapt videos for different formats while keeping text and product details readable.
- Create supporting banners and carousels using existing Figma assets and brand guidelines.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience with SaaS, educational content, or complex subjects would be particularly useful. Please show the relevant work and explain your contribution.
How we’ll work together:
The team has an existing design system, brand assets, and content direction. You’ll contribute editorial and visual ideas while taking responsibility for production.
We’re looking for an efficient, collaborative workflow: review the materials, agree the scope and estimate, share work at agreed stages, and flag missing inputs or likely overruns early. Those review stages may include rough cuts before final polish.
The initial workload is expected to be around 10 hours per week. The schedule, start date, and allocation of hours will be agreed together, with potential for ongoing work if the collaboration fits.
London-based candidates are particularly welcome because occasional in-person collaboration could be useful. Strong candidates elsewhere are also welcome.
