Volunteer Games Marketing & Community Manager – Sleepy Bard Studios

Sleepy Bard Studios is looking for a Volunteer Games Marketing & Community Manager to help us establish our presence within the games community and get our projects in front of more people.

We're an independent studio currently developing Lumberin Jack: Ember Woods, a comedic 3D platformer, while building our Discord and growing our social media presence.

What you'll be doing

You'll be helping us build an audience around Sleepy Bard Studios and our games. This will include:

  • Developing and maintaining our social media presence.
  • Creating and scheduling content from our development material.
  • Helping grow and manage our Discord community.
  • Finding relevant gaming and indie communities for us to engage with.
  • Looking for opportunities such as showcases, collaborations, and community events.
  • Helping shape Sleepy Bard's online personality and humorous, tongue-in-cheek brand voice.
  • Keeping track of basic engagement and using it to help guide future content.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We're looking for someone who can bring their own ideas and creativity rather than simply following a posting schedule.

Who we're looking for

This could suit someone looking to build experience in games marketing, social media, or community management.

You should:

  • Have a genuine interest in games and the indie games industry.
  • Be comfortable with social media and Discord.
  • Have good written communication skills.
  • Understand how to create content that feels natural to gaming audiences.
  • Have a good feel for humour and be able to adapt to a brand's personality.
  • Be proactive, organised and comfortable working independently.

Professional marketing experience isn't essential. We're more interested in what you can bring to the role and your enthusiasm for getting involved.

Lumberin Jack: Ember Woods is a comedic 3D platformer where being a lumberjack apparently isn't stressful enough without setting the entire forest on fire.

You'll be exploring the Ember Woods, dealing with hazards, gnomes, raccoons, and the general chaos that comes with a forest that's having a particularly bad day.

It's colourful, silly, and deliberately doesn't take itself too seriously — and that's the sort of personality we want Sleepy Bard to have beyond the game too.

What you'll get from it

This is a chance to work directly with a small indie studio and take ownership of a genuine marketing and community project.

You'll be able to build real examples of game marketing and community work for your portfolio, experiment with your own ideas, and see how an audience develops around a game from its early stages.

The role is voluntary and flexible, with the workload shaped around your availability.
