Films for Humanity
Films for Humanity is looking for volunteer videographers to help film two new dramas Unmended, a series about male trauma and healing, and The Wedding Dress, a film about a survivor of trafficking. Help us tell difficult stories with honesty, care, and dignity.
What difference will you make?
Small charities do extraordinary work, but most cannot afford to tell their story on film. Films for Humanity changes that, and our dramas go further: they give a human face to issues that are too often reduced to statistics.
Unmended speaks to the boys and men who carry trauma, abuse, and abandonment in silence, and to the people who support them. The Wedding Dress exposes how childhood exploitation can follow survivors into adulthood, and asks whether society is ready to accept them fully. Both will be shared with charities, schools, and festival audiences to start conversations that change how people see, and treat, survivors.
As our videographer, you will decide how these stories look and feel. Every frame you shoot will help an audience sit with a difficult truth rather than look away. Your work will also give our charity partners powerful material for their own awareness campaigns, and help position our films for festival recognition.
Without skilled people behind the camera, these stories stay on the page. With you, they reach the screen.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for self-starters behind the camera—people who come prepared, take ownership of the image, and stay calm on set.
Most important
- A strong showreel or portfolio, ideally including narrative or drama work
- Solid technical skills: camera operation, lighting, and sound
- Reliability: you turn up on time, prepared, on every shoot day you commit to
- Maturity and sensitivity when filming difficult scenes, and respect for actors working through emotionally demanding material

Also valuable
- Experience with cinema cameras, gimbals, or color grading
- Experience as a camera operator, DoP, or camera assistant on short films
- Your own kit is welcome but not required; our filming equipment is available on our productions
- A collaborative approach, and comfort taking direction while bringing your own creative ideas
Some scenes involve young actors, so a DBS check may be required. We warmly welcome applicants with lived experience of the issues our films address, and people from backgrounds under-represented in film and media.
What will you be doing?
Films for Humanity is a London film studio that makes powerful short films for small charities, free of charge. We have produced six films since 2019, on mental health, domestic violence, drunk driving, kindness, Black history, and conversion therapy. We are now developing two new productions, and we are looking for videographers to help bring them to the screen.
Our productions
- Unmended: a drama series following Fabrizio, a successful entrepreneur in London who, through therapy sessions, revisits a childhood shaped by poverty, abuse, racism, and loss. It sheds light on the hidden wounds men and boys carry.
- The Wedding Dress: a film following a young woman who survived an abusive childhood and trafficking, and the cost of telling the truth about her past to the man she loves.

Role Responsibilities
- Film scenes for Unmended and The Wedding Dress, working with our director on shot lists, framing, lighting, and movement
- Support pre-production location recces, camera tests, and planning the look of each production
- Record clean sound on set, or work alongside our sound recordist
- Manage and back up footage safely at the end of each shoot day
- When available, film behind-the-scenes content, events, and social-impact initiatives for Films for Humanity and selected partners (paid or volunteer projects)
- Work closely with the leadership team to ensure all content reflects our values of inclusivity, dignity, authenticity, and social responsibility
Requirements
- Proficiency in videography, including camera operation, lighting, and sound recording; experience on short films or drama is a strong plus
- Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to convey depth and nuance through visuals
- Sensitivity when working with vulnerable themes, including sexual abuse, trafficking, and trauma
- Reliability on shoot days, which are mostly in London and may include weekends
- A genuine commitment to using film as a tool for empathy, education, and social change
