Virtual Care Practitioner
Band 7 NHS Agenda for Change - £49,387 to £56,515 per annum
Locations: Medway Make Ready Centre (East) or Crawley HQ (West)
Full & part time positions available.
At South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb), our Virtual Care service is at the forefront of clinical transformation. We are seeking experienced clinicians who are passionate about patient care and ready to play a key role in shaping the future of urgent and emergency healthcare.
As a Virtual Care Practitioner, you will manage complex, high-risk and undifferentiated patient presentations, providing expert clinical decision-making and senior support within our Virtual Care service. Alongside delivering exceptional patient care, you will provide leadership, mentorship and clinical guidance to colleagues, whilst contributing to service development, innovation and quality improvement.
Main duties of the job
As a Virtual Care Practitioner, You Will
- Undertake enhanced virtual assessment and management of patients accessing 999, NHS 111 and other referral pathways.
- Manage complex and high-risk patients using advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice and professional judgement.
- Formulate differential diagnoses and develop safe, effective and patient-centred management plans.
- Provide expert clinical advice, leadership and support to colleagues across the Virtual Care service.
- Lead, coach and mentor clinicians, supporting professional development and workforce capability.
- Support the development and optimisation of referral pathways and innovative models of care.
- Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, education and service transformation initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and healthcare partners to improve patient outcomes across the healthcare system.

Other than in exceptional circumstances, the starting salary for staff new to the NHS will be the bottom point of the band to which they have been appointed.
Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
Following the revision of current national legislation (Vaccine as a Condition of Deployment), the Trust has reviewed our requirements relating to staff uptake of the SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) vaccination.
Going forward, for patient facing positions, we strongly recommend that new starters will be appropriately vaccinated unless medically exempt in order to offer greater protection against exposure to the virus for front line staff.
In line with this recommendation, if you are successful in your application for a front line post, we will seek information from you in relation to your vaccine status, including exemption status, as applicable.
Please note, all positions come with a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check relevant to the post. This will either be a basic, standard, or enhanced check depending on the role. The level of check will be outlined in the conditional offer letter sent to successful applicants.
