About The Thrive Center
The Thrive Center is positioned as Bermuda's primary medicinal cannabis center, dedicated to providing patients with safe, lawful and dignified access to quality-assured medicinal cannabis under the guidance of qualified healthcare professionals.
The Thrive Center provides services and products in accordance with its current licence and applicable requirements. The Center is committed to maintaining appropriate professional standards, documentation, internal controls and procedures in relation to its operations.
Role Overview
Thrive Medical is seeking an experienced UK-resident General Practitioner (GP) to provide virtual medical consultations and ongoing clinical support to patients of Thrive Medical in Bermuda.
The position is designed to expand patient access outside of normal clinic hours. The GP will work remotely from the United Kingdom, primarily during UK evenings and weekends, providing convenient coverage during Bermuda daytime and evening hours.
The successful candidate will provide safe, professional and patient-centred virtual medical care while working within Thrive Medical’s established clinical protocols and governance framework.
Key Responsibilities
The Virtual GP will:
- Conduct scheduled and, where appropriate, same-day video and telephone consultations with Thrive patients.
- Assess common acute and chronic medical complaints suitable for virtual management.
- Review patient medical histories, medications, allergies, laboratory results and other available clinical information.
- Provide clinical advice, treatment recommendations and appropriate follow-up.
- Manage routine primary-care conditions that can safely be treated through telemedicine.
- Provide follow-up consultations for existing Thrive patients.
- Review laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate appropriate recommendations to patients.
- Identify patients requiring physical examination, diagnostic testing, emergency assessment or in-person physician review and arrange/escalate appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive electronic medical records for every patient interaction.
- Work collaboratively with Thrive’s Bermuda-based physicians, nurses, pharmacists and administrative team.
- Participate in appropriate clinical handover where patients require ongoing care from the Bermuda team.
- Follow Thrive Medical clinical protocols, prescribing policies, safeguarding procedures, privacy requirements and quality standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Prescribing
Where legally and professionally permitted, the physician may recommend or prescribe medications appropriate to the patient’s clinical condition.
All prescribing must comply with applicable Bermuda legislation, professional licensing requirements and Thrive Medical prescribing protocols.
Where prescribing authority is restricted because of jurisdiction or registration requirements, the Virtual GP will document the recommended treatment plan for review and prescribing by an appropriately licensed Bermuda physician.
Working Schedule
The service will primarily operate during:
- Monday–Friday: UK evening hours
- Saturday–Sunday: Flexible daytime/evening coverage
The exact rota will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Because Bermuda is several hours behind the United Kingdom, UK evening availability provides useful afternoon and early-evening coverage for Thrive patients in Bermuda.
The role may initially be structured around scheduled consultation blocks with the opportunity to expand hours as patient demand grows.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Hold a recognised medical degree (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent).
- Be registered with the UK General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
- Have appropriate experience in General Practice / Primary Care.
- Have experience independently assessing and managing patients.
- Have excellent spoken and written English.
- Be comfortable providing consultations by video and telephone.
- Be comfortable working with electronic medical records and digital healthcare systems.
- Demonstrate appropriate clinical judgement regarding the limitations of virtual medicine and when patients require face-to-face or emergency assessment.

- Experience managing chronic disease, men’s and women’s health, dermatological complaints, pain, sleep disorders and general primary-care presentations.
- Experience working in private healthcare or international healthcare environments.
Professional Requirements
The successful physician will be expected to maintain:
- GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Appropriate professional indemnity/medical malpractice coverage for the services being provided.
- Continuing professional development and appraisal/revalidation requirements.
- Patient confidentiality and professional standards consistent with Thrive Medical policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Any additional registration, licensing or approval required to provide medical care to patients located in Bermuda must be established before independent clinical practice begins.
Technology Requirements
The physician must have:
- Reliable high-speed internet.
- A private and confidential workspace.
- Computer with camera and microphone suitable for video consultations.
- Ability to securely access Thrive Medical’s electronic medical record and telemedicine systems.
About the Role
This position would suit an experienced GP looking for flexible, remote clinical work outside traditional UK daytime practice hours.
The role provides an opportunity to work with an established Bermuda healthcare service while remaining based in the United Kingdom and delivering care entirely virtually.
