This is an exciting opportunity to join Calderdale Council’s Virtual School for Children Looked After.

We are seeking to appoint a highly committed and inspirational Case Lead with a proven track record of improving educational outcomes for children and young people in care and care leavers. You will be passionate about tackling inequality and narrowing the achievement gap between children looked after, care leavers and their peers, ensuring that young people have the support and opportunities they need to grow, flourish and realise their full potential.
The post holder will manage a cohort of children and young people supported by the Virtual School, developing effective partnership working with children, young people, parents/carers, education settings, social care and other relevant professionals. The role will support active participation and engagement in education, helping to address barriers to learning and promote positive educational outcomes.

As a Case Lead, you will take responsibility for coordinating and quality assuring Personal Education Plans (PEPs), working closely with Social Care, Designated Teachers and other professionals to ensure Children Looked After and Care Leavers have the maximum opportunity to reach their full educational potential.
You will advocate on behalf of children and young people, provide advice, challenge and support to educational settings, and contribute to the strategic aims of the Virtual School. This post will require the Case Lead to work with children and settings both within Calderdale and across wider geographical areas.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.

This role is based in the UK. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
