Visitor Services Manager

About the role
Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Visitor Services Manager to join the management team at Yr Aelwyd, Port Talbot's newly refurbished theatre, cultural and conferencing venue. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in visitor services, venue operations, customer care, and team leadership to play a key role in the successful day-to-day operation of the venue.
As Visitor Services Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all visitors receive a welcoming, safe and enjoyable experience. You will lead and manage a diverse team including Duty Managers, Theatre Assistants, Box Office staff, Bar staff, Cleaners, casual employees and volunteers, ensuring the venue operates efficiently and to the highest possible standards. This role involves overseeing staffing arrangements, preparing rotas, supporting recruitment and people management processes, and helping to deliver the theatre's business objectives. Due to the nature of the venue and its programme of events, the successful applicant will be required to work evenings and weekends as part of the role.
You will also take responsibility for the operational management of the building, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation relating to health and safety, licensing, safeguarding, data protection and accessibility. Working closely with colleagues across the Council and with external partners, you will help coordinate events, manage venue bookings, oversee financial procedures and contribute to the continued development of Yr Aelwyd as a thriving cultural & conferencing destination.

About You
The successful candidate will have significant experience working within a theatre, arts, leisure, cultural or visitor attraction environment, together with experience of managing teams and delivering excellent customer service. You will possess strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, be confident making decisions in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a flexible, hands-on approach to venue management. Knowledge of health and safety requirements, risk assessments, and financial management is essential.
