This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Visual Designer based in United Kingdom.

As a Visual Designer, you will help transform complex open-source technology into clear, intuitive, and engaging experiences for a global audience. Working within a collaborative central design team, you will contribute to brand systems, communication materials, UI design systems, and visual design for digital products. Your work will combine strong visual craft with a deep understanding of usability, accessibility, and web standards. You will work with real content and information to create designs that make sophisticated products easier to understand and use. The role offers broad project exposure and the opportunity to influence how technology and open-source products are presented to millions of users. You will collaborate with designers and colleagues across a highly distributed, multicultural environment while continuously developing your skills and design practice.

Accountabilities

  • Create high-quality visual designs across brand guidelines, communication materials, UI design systems, and digital products.
  • Apply and evolve visual design principles to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across a broad range of materials and user experiences.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, products, and information into clear and engaging visual experiences.
  • Design with real content and information at the center, ensuring that visual presentation supports usability and user understanding.
  • Apply strong knowledge of design principles, quality heuristics, accessibility, and web standards to deliver effective user experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and colleagues across different functions to develop thoughtful and effective design solutions.
  • Contribute ideas, share perspectives, and participate actively in design critiques, feedback sessions, and creative discussions.
  • Help establish and promote high standards for visual quality and design consistency across projects.
  • Stay informed about evolving visual design practices, digital trends, tools, and technologies and apply relevant approaches to your work.
  • Take ownership of projects, manage priorities effectively, and consistently deliver high-quality work within agreed commitments.
  • Support the development of design skills within the wider team through knowledge sharing, mentorship, and constructive feedback where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated professional experience in visual, graphic, digital, web, or product design, gained through an agency, company, freelance, or comparable environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellent visual design skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, usability, accessibility, and modern web standards.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical, design, or related discipline, or a compelling alternative career and education path.
  • Strong interest in technology and evidence of personal design, technology, or creative projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Confidence to express ideas, respectfully challenge assumptions, exchange feedback, and contribute actively to creative discussions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural, professional, and geographic backgrounds.
  • Thoughtful, self-motivated, and highly organized approach to design work.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a strong personal drive to meet commitments and deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Demonstrated willingness to continuously develop design and technical skills.
  • Strong work ethic and confidence to contribute alongside highly motivated and talented colleagues.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally approximately twice per year for company events lasting up to two weeks.
