Type: Full-time, Permanent
Sector: Games | PC/Console | Unreal Engine 5
About the Studio
We're partnering with an established UK games studio working on ambitious PC and console projects, including an active multiplayer title alongside further projects in development.
The team has a strong technical culture and is looking for a Senior VFX Artist who wants genuine ownership rather than simply being handed individual effects to produce.
About the Role
We're looking for a technically strong Senior VFX Artist who understands what sits underneath the visuals: how real-time VFX systems are built, implemented, profiled, optimised and maintained within a game.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll take ownership of VFX from concept through to implementation, working in Unreal Engine 5 and Niagara across gameplay, environments and broader game systems.
A major part of the role will be creating solutions that aren't just visually impressive, but scalable and performant. You'll work closely with Art, Design and Engineering, help establish efficient workflows and contribute to the technical direction of VFX across both current and future projects.
The studio is particularly interested in people who have previously been trusted with an area of VFX end-to-end rather than only contributing individual assets within an existing setup.
What You'll Need
- Strong professional experience creating real-time VFX within games
- Excellent Unreal Engine 5 and Niagara knowledge
- Evidence of owning VFX systems or features from initial setup through to final implementation
- Strong understanding of optimisation, profiling and working within technical/performance budgets
- An understanding of materials, shaders and how VFX interacts with wider gameplay systems
- Comfortable working with Blueprint-driven implementation and collaborating closely with engineers
- Experience solving technical VFX problems rather than purely producing visual assets
- Ability to work autonomously, make decisions and take responsibility for your area
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across Art, Design and Engineering.
