The Opportunity – VMU Technician (Field-Based, Fleet Management)
Location
Greenford & the North West London area
Why This Role?
As a VMU Technician, you’ll be part of a dynamic team ensuring a contract customer’s fleet remains operational, efficient, and compliant. Your work spans routine maintenance, fault resolution, customer liaison, and embracing flexibility—sometimes supporting colleagues across other VMU depots.
You’ll prove your passion for continuous improvement while upholding industry standards—driving both excellence and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
Core Work
- Execute preventative maintenance & repair to strict ULTIMO standards.
- Diagnose issues accurately, fit replacement parts correctly, and handle warranty claims precisely.
- Perfect end-of-shift handover paperwork, including vehicle status reports (on/off-road).
- Handle customer enquiries via telephone with proficiency, empathy, and proactive problem-solving.
- Travel to customer sites for repairs—adapting to work demands with minimal supervision.
- Complete timesheets, job cards, and service records accurately and efficiently.

Requirements
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in mechanical or refrigeration—familiarity with diagnostics, part replacement, and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Full valid UK driving licence (critical for site attendance and fleet operations).
- Self-reliance—ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Proficiency with basic computer software (ministry, registry systems).
- Stellar communication skills—clear verbal/written English, with professionalism at all times.

Nice to Have
- GCSEs in Maths & English (preferred).
- Certifications: F-Gas 2079, electrical & mechanical skills to demonstrate expertise.
- Experience reading technical diagrams/wiring schematics for advanced diagnostics.

- Limitless flexibility: Willingness to cover leave/sickness or assist at other depots if required.
