VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Engineer with proven, hands-on experience delivering VCF 9.0 or 9.1 environments. This role is for someone who has personally built and implemented VCF 9.x environments and is comfortable working independently across VCF compute, networking, automation and operational services. You will join an engineering team delivering new VCF environments and will play a key role in accelerating implementation timelines, troubleshooting deployment challenges and ensuring environments are delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and deliver VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x environments.
  • Build and configure VCF management domains and workload domains.
  • Deploy and integrate VCF Operations, VCF Automation and NSX components.
  • Troubleshoot VCF deployment failures, configuration issues and integration challenges.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VCF networking, including, VMware NSX, Tier-0 and Tier-1 gateway, Edge clusters, VPCs, Multi-tenancy, North/south and east/west connectivity.
  • Support VCF lifecycle management and operational activities.
  • Work with the new VCF 9.x services architecture, including Kubernetes-based management services.
  • Interpret and execute technical deployment runbooks and implementation designs.
  • Validate proposed designs against technical and operational requirements.
  • Investigate complex issues independently and identify effective resolutions.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of greenfield VCF environments.
  • Work closely with existing engineering teams to accelerate delivery and reduce implementation timescales.
  • Document deployment activities, configuration and troubleshooting outcomes where required.

Essential Experience

  • Hands-on VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 or 9.1 deployment experience.
  • Proven experience personally building and delivering at least one VCF 9.x environment.
  • Practical experience deploying, VCF management domains, VCF workload domains, VCF Operations, VCF Automation, VMware NSX.
  • Strong understanding of VCF networking and NSX, including Tier-0/Tier-1 gateways, Edge clusters, VPCs and multi-tenancy.
  • Experience troubleshooting real-world VCF deployment, networking and integration issues.
  • Understanding of VCF 9.x operational tooling and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with the VCF 9.x services architecture and Kubernetes-based management services.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding and guidance.
  • Experience interpreting deployment runbooks and validating technical designs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience delivering greenfield VCF environments.
  • Experience working in complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience resolving deployment challenges encountered during early-stage or large-scale VCF implementations.
  • Broader VMware experience across vSphere, vCenter, ESXi and vSAN.
