Working pattern
Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm; full-time onsite with no remote working
On-call
One week in every four; travel to site is required if an on-call incident requires physical attendance
Clearance
Active and demonstrable Security Check (SC) clearance is mandatory
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert-level support, troubleshooting and technical guidance across VMware vSphere and Horizon VDI environments.
- Deliver focused technical assistance to virtualisation projects, including implementation, upgrades, remediation and service improvement activity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex incidents across VMware, Windows Server and associated infrastructure, completing frontline fixes where required.
- Support BAU operations and service-desk activity when needed, while maintaining agreed service levels and clear technical documentation.
- Engage professionally with suppliers and other delivery partners to coordinate technical actions, dependencies and issue resolution.
- Support Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 environments, together with Active Directory and basic networking services.
- Work with HPE server infrastructure and support data-centre management activities, including onsite investigation and recovery when required.
- Participate in the one-in-four on-call rota and attend the Nottingham site when an incident cannot be resolved remotely during the on-call period.

- Active and demonstrable SC clearance at the point of application.
- A minimum of five years’ hands-on experience supporting VMware technologies in enterprise environments.
- Expert-level VMware vSphere capability, including ESXi, vCenter, clustering, lifecycle management and fault diagnosis.
- Strong, recent and demonstrable VMware Horizon VDI experience; general VMware experience without meaningful Horizon delivery is not sufficient.
- Experience supporting Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 and Active Directory.
- Hands-on experience with HPE server infrastructure, basic networking and data-centre operations.
- Ability to balance project delivery with BAU support, incident resolution, documentation and stakeholder engagement.
- Commitment to work onsite in Nottingham five days per week and participate fully in the on-call rota, including site attendance when required.
