As we continue to grow and invest in our workforce, we're expanding our Learning & Development team to ensure colleagues receive the highest quality vocational support and assessment.
What you'll be doing
As a Vocational Assessor, you'll guide learners through their qualification journey, helping them build confidence, competence and professional skills.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Assessing knowledge and competence-based qualifications through workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence.
- Providing supportive, constructive feedback that helps learners develop.
- Managing your own learner caseload and planning assessments effectively.
- Monitoring learner progress to ensure timely achievement.
- Building positive relationships with managers to support workforce development.
- Maintaining accurate assessment records and awarding body compliance.
- Supporting quality assurance activities.
- Delivering learning sessions where appropriate – if this is a new skill for you or something you’ve done before, we’ll support you every step of the way.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, and where you'll spend your time supporting real people in a real working environment.

Essential
About you
- Recognised Assessor qualification (A1, CAVA or equivalent)
- Experience assessing vocational qualifications within Health & Social Care, Residential Childcare or Education
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- Ability to confidently assess workplace competence
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage your own caseload
- Passion for developing others

Desirable
- Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to work towards with employer support)
- Experience within residential childcare, specialist education or learning disability services
- Experience delivering training or facilitating learning
