Field Engineer
Location: Field-based across South London and South West London, covering areas south of the River Thames within the M25. We are particularly interested in candidates located in or around Croydon and the surrounding postcode areas.
Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
Working hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday + On-Call
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability & willingness to undergo and obtain a Secure Vetting (SC) clearance.

What you'll do
Join a team that keeps people, businesses and communities connected every day. As a Field Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in installing, commissioning and maintaining Vodafone's fixed and mobile network infrastructure, helping to deliver reliable connectivity and business solutions for customers across the UK. You'll enjoy a varied role that combines technical problem-solving, customer interaction and working in diverse environments, from network sites and rooftops to customer locations.

You will:
- Install, commission and maintain network equipment, products and services to the highest quality and safety standards.
- Work across a range of technologies including mobile networks, transmission systems, microwave radio, fibre and copper infrastructure, power systems and customer networking equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption for customers and network services.
- Climb towers and work at height on Vodafone infrastructure, maintaining the required safety certifications and health standards.
- Collaborate with field delivery teams, network operations centres, project teams, vendors, suppliers and business customers to deliver successful outcomes.
- Provide a professional, customer-focused experience through clear communication and timely updates.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, challenge existing ways of working and contribute to operational excellence.
- Participate in a 24/7 callout rota and/or shift patterns when required, supporting critical network operations.
- Travel to sites as needed and work flexibly to support business and customer requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to Vodafone's Health, Safety and Environmental standards, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
Who you are
- A qualified telecoms or electronics professional, or someone with equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- Experience installing, supporting and troubleshooting telecoms and networking technologies.
- Knowledge of technologies such as Cisco, Juniper and ADVA equipment, DWDM, Ethernet, 3G/4G/5G networks, microwave radio, power systems, fibre and copper cabling.
- Someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Confidence working in a physically active role, including climbing, lifting, working outdoors and operating at height.
- Ability to stay focused under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
- A proactive problem-solver who is adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional approach.
- Good IT literacy and confidence using digital tools and systems.
- A full UK/EU Category B driving licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
- Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber/Tower Rescue certification and meet regular health assessment requirements.
- Desirable qualifications such as an HND, degree or relevant technical certifications (e.g. Cisco CCNA/CCNP).
- Experience with wireless networking, LAN/WiFi environments or unified communications solutions would be advantageous.
