What you’ll do
As a Credit & Collections Account Manager, you'll become the trusted point of contact for collection activities across a portfolio of strategic customers. You’ll take ownership of your ledger, work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, and help ensure outstanding debts are minimised while maintaining strong customer relationships. You'll play an important role in achieving cash collection targets, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous development.

You will:
- Manage a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts, taking end-to-end ownership of collection activities and aged debt performance.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, acting as the primary point of contact for collection-related matters.
- Achieve and exceed monthly cash collection and aged debt targets while proactively identifying and communicating any risks to delivery.
- Manage a ledger of 70+ customers with overdue balances of up to £10m, ensuring timely and effective debt recovery.
- Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the business to resolve queries, remove barriers, and support successful outcomes.
- Investigate payment delays, identify process or contractual issues, and work collaboratively with customers and internal teams to develop effective solutions.
- Provide timely escalations when agreed actions are not being followed by customers or internal stakeholders.
- Analyse ledger performance and management information to support informed decision-making and drive improvements.
- Contribute positively to team objectives, share knowledge, and support a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Help foster a continuous improvement mindset by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and ways of working.
Who you are
You:
- Have experience managing large enterprise customers within a credit, collections, finance, or customer-facing commercial environment.
- Can demonstrate accountability, ownership, and a proactive approach when managing priorities and delivering results.
- Can work confidently both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Have strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Are comfortable influencing and communicating with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Bring excellent written and verbal communication skills and can adapt your style to different audiences.
- Possess strong negotiation skills and can confidently manage challenging conversations while maintaining positive relationships.
- Have excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills and are confident using Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other business systems.
- Have experience using management information and data analysis to support decision-making and performance improvement.
- Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt positively to change.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable using your initiative to drive outcomes.
- Enjoy building networks and collaborating with diverse teams to achieve shared goals.
- Having Membership of the Institute of Credit Management (ICM) would be advantageous.
