Energus is a modern events and training venue located at Lillyhall in Workington along Britain’s Energy Coast, offering world-class facilities for conferences, exhibitions, and business functions. Its flexible spaces with contemporary design and natural light support a wide variety of local, national, and international events. Energus plays a key role in venue and event management for businesses across Cumbria and the North of England, contributing to the region’s energy and economic development. In partnership with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and nuclear industry employers, Energus manages training and development programmes at apprenticeship, higher learning, and graduate levels, including the nucleargraduates programme. As the North West flagship delivery center for the National Skills Academy for Nuclear, Energus provides training, education, and business support to build and enhance skills in the local and national nuclear workforce.

The Volunteer role at Energus is a full-time, on-site position based in the London Area, United Kingdom. In this role, the volunteer will support day-to-day operations related to events, exhibitions, and conferences, including assisting with venue preparation, guest registration, and general event logistics. The volunteer will work closely with the events and training teams to help coordinate schedules, maintain organized documentation, and provide courteous support to visitors, learners, and partners. Responsibilities may also include basic administrative tasks such as data entry, responding to inquiries, and helping set up training rooms and materials. This role offers experience in event support, customer service, and education-focused activities within a dynamic environment connected to the energy and nuclear sectors.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in events, training, or education, with the ability to support venue setup, guest assistance, and basic logistics.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach when interacting with visitors, learners, and partners.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage simple administrative tasks, schedules, and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, take direction, and contribute positively in a fast-paced on-site environment.
- Basic IT skills (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets) and willingness to learn internal systems and processes.
- Dependable and punctual, with the capacity to commit to full-time volunteering and adapt to changing event requirements.
- Interest in the energy or nuclear sector and professional development; previous volunteering or customer service experience is beneficial but not required.
