Company Description
The Sonic Vessel operates in Tendring, where communities such as Clacton and Harwich face some of the highest levels of deprivation in England, especially in education and skills. Youth economic inactivity is significantly higher than the county average, limiting opportunities for young people and the broader workforce. The area also lacks creative infrastructure, which constrains economic potential and personal development. The Sonic Vessel responds to these challenges with a scalable and sustainable model focused on creative engagement, skills development, and community impact. The organization is committed to delivering measurable social and economic benefits through innovative, arts-led initiatives.
Role Description
This is a full-time, remote Volunteer role supporting The Sonic Vessel’s mission to expand creative opportunities and skills development. Day-to-day tasks may include:

- Assisting with the planning and coordination of creative programs, workshops, and online events
- Supporting communications with participants, partners, and community stakeholders
- Helping to maintain project documentation, schedules, and basic reporting
- Contributing to digital content creation (such as writing updates, collecting stories, or preparing simple visual materials)
- Helping with outreach through email, social platforms, or community networks
- Collaborating with team members in virtual meetings, offering feedback on program activities, and suggesting ways to improve engagement and impact

While remote, the position requires consistent availability, proactive communication, and a strong commitment to the organization’s social and economic goals.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in community development, education, or creative industries, with motivation to support social and economic impact in under-resourced areas.
- Effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Organizational and time-management abilities, including reliability in meeting deadlines, managing remote tasks, and maintaining accurate records.
- Comfort using basic digital tools (e.g., email, video conferencing, shared documents, and project management or collaboration platforms).
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating constructively with a dispersed team.
- Prior volunteering, community engagement, education, or arts/creative experience is beneficial but not required.
- Flexibility, problem-solving mindset, and a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving project needs.
