Role Description
The Volunteer Academy Head Coach is a part-time, hybrid role based in Guildford, with coaching duties on site and some planning and administrative work from home. This role oversees the academy’s training program, leads coaching sessions, and manages matchday preparations for youth players.

Responsibilities
- Designing age-appropriate training plans
- Mentoring assistant coaches
- Monitoring player progress
- Ensuring alignment with the club’s philosophy and standards
- Communicating regularly with players, families, and club leadership
- Coordinating schedules
- Upholding safeguarding and welfare guidelines
- Contributing to talent identification
- Maintaining training records
- Supporting a positive, inclusive culture within the academy

Qualifications
- Coaching and player development skills, including experience planning and leading structured football training sessions for youth or academy players.
- Team leadership and management capabilities, with the ability to mentor assistant coaches and coordinate with club staff and volunteers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with players, families, and club officials, both in person and online.
- Organizational and planning skills for managing training schedules, matchday logistics, and player development records.
- Relevant football coaching certifications or badges (e.g., FA or equivalent), and knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and welfare best practices.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive environment and promoting the club’s values within the academy.
- Basic digital skills for remote tasks such as session planning, reporting, and coordinating via email or online platforms.
- Previous experience in youth football coaching or academy environments is highly beneficial.
