Role Description

The Volunteer Administrative Assistant will support the efficient running of an Air Cadets squadron in Gravesend through day-to-day administrative tasks. This is a hybrid volunteer role which can be flexible around your commitments. You will work closely with squadron staff to maintain records, manage correspondence, and help coordinate activities and events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Updating databases
  • Filing forms
  • Preparation of agendas and minutes
  • Preparing basic documents
  • Handling phone and email enquiries
  • Assisting with the organisation of training, parades, and community events

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, scheduling, and record-keeping.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with cadets, families, volunteers, and RAFAC staff.
  • Comfort using basic office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email) and learning RAFAC systems and processes.
  • Reliability, integrity, and a positive, respectful attitude when working with young people and adult volunteers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow RAFAC policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to undergo any required background checks and training relevant to working with young people.
  • Previous administrative or volunteer experience, especially in youth or community organisations, is beneficial but not essential.
