Company Description
Forces Online CIO is a cross-border military charity that supports Armed Forces veterans and their families across the UK and beyond. The charity delivers help through three main online platforms: a Veterans Directory offering free listings for Armed Forces organizations, a Virtual Hub providing live online support managed by veterans, and a Welfare Support referral service connecting individuals to free counseling.
Services operate throughout the week, including daytime and selected evening hours, to make support accessible when it is needed most. Forces Online CIO is committed to providing practical, emotional, and community-based assistance, and offers detailed information about its work through an online media pack.
We have recently spent the last 12 months redesigning the system which is finally ready. The Area jobs would suit anyone who has a little time on their hands for a new challenge.
Role Description
The Volunteer Area Coordinator (UK Wide) is a remote volunteer role responsible for supporting and promoting Forces Online CIO’s services within a designated area.

- Coordinating local outreach activities
- Building relationships with veterans, families, and support organizations
- Signposting individuals to the Veterans Directory, Virtual Hub, and Welfare Support referral service
- Managing and supporting local volunteers, ensuring they are informed about current services, resources, and referral pathways
- Assisting with gathering feedback, reporting local needs, and sharing updates with the central team to improve service delivery
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community and comfortable working independently in an online environment.
Qualifications
- Ideally you will have experience of previous service in the UK Armed Forces.
- You can already be working within this sector.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to engage effectively with veterans, families, volunteers, and partner organizations.
- Experience or interest in volunteer management and volunteer training to support, guide, and motivate area-based volunteers.
- Community outreach skills, including networking, relationship-building, and promoting services within local communities.
- Ability to work remotely with good digital literacy, including using email, online platforms, and video conferencing tools.
- Organizational and time-management skills to coordinate activities, maintain records, and provide regular updates.
- Understanding of or empathy for the Armed Forces and veteran community; lived experience or previous work in this sector is beneficial but not required.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and non-discriminatory practices, with a respectful and supportive approach to all service users.
