We’re looking for an experienced graphic/brand designer to volunteer 8–12 hours over 4–6 weeks to establish a clear, confident visual identity.
The role is remote, flexible, and ideal for someone who enjoys shaping a mission-driven brand for a 50+ audience.
What difference will you make?
This volunteer designer will give Advantages of Age the visual foundation we currently lack. Our content and tone are strong, but our design language is flat and generic, which undermines our “punks of ageing” positioning and reduces impact with our 50+ audience, partners and sponsors.
The role will help us by
- Creating a clear, distinctive brand identity that reflects our bold, non-stereotypical approach to ageing and makes us instantly recognisable across our magazine, website, events and awards.
- Improving the website’s look and feel so it is more engaging, accessible and legible for older users, increasing time on site, trust and conversions (e.g. newsletter sign-ups, event tickets, award entries).
- Providing a simple, usable brand system (colours, type, icons, imagery style, logo rules) and a short style guide, so our small team and future volunteers can produce consistent, professional materials without needing specialist design skills.
- Strengthening our presence ahead of key milestones, especially our October conference and future awards cycles, by giving us a cohesive visual language to use in promotional materials, sponsor decks and media coverage.
In short, this role will turn our strong mission and content into a coherent, confident visual brand that better serves older people, supports growth and amplifies our influence on how society talks about ageing.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a brand/graphic designer with at least 3 years’ professional experience who can turn our “punks of ageing” mission into a clear, confident visual identity and apply it to our website.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
