Lead and Strengthen Operations Across a Growing Survivor-Led Organisation

Lead and strengthen operations across a growing survivor-led organisation. Coordinate teams, oversee projects, implement accountability systems, and help drive meaningful social impact while gaining senior leadership experience.

What Difference Will You Make?

The Volunteer Central AI Operations Director will strengthen the organisation by implementing effective operational systems, project management, and accountability frameworks. The role will improve collaboration, performance, and decision-making, enabling senior leadership to focus on strategic growth while supporting the organisation to expand its impact and better serve survivors.

What Are We Looking For?

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years experience leading teams, projects, programmes, or organisational operations.
  • Strong project management, organisational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing systems, processes, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience building stakeholder relationships and facilitating collaboration.
  • Ability to motivate, support, and manage volunteers and team leaders.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently within a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Airtable, Notion, Slack, and Teams.
  • Experience in charities, CICs, volunteer-led organisations, operations management, programme management, or community development is desirable.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed, survivor-led, or social impact organisations is beneficial.
  • Passion for social impact and commitment to our mission.

What Will You Be Doing?

The Volunteer Central AI Operations Director will provide operational leadership across the organisation, ensuring departments, projects, and volunteer teams work effectively and remain aligned with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations across all volunteer departments.
  • Manage and support the Central Operations Team, including Operations Analysts, Coordinators, and Assistants.
  • Oversee project delivery across the organisation, ensuring milestones, deadlines, and objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor organisational performance and identify operational risks, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Implement and maintain accountability systems to ensure departments and volunteers deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor KPI dashboards, departmental scorecards, and performance tracking systems.
  • Review departmental progress and provide guidance to help teams overcome barriers and improve results.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration between departments to improve efficiency and alignment.
  • Establish and maintain operational processes, reporting systems, workflow documentation, and communication protocols.
  • Lead weekly operational meetings and contribute to monthly organisational reviews.
  • Produce regular reports summarising project progress, organisational performance, volunteer engagement, risks, and recommendations.
  • Provide operational updates and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support the implementation of organisational priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor Heads of Department and Team Leads, helping strengthen leadership capability and accountability.
  • Promote volunteer engagement, wellbeing, retention, and a positive team culture.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
