Volunteer Co-ordinator

We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and experienced Volunteer Co-ordinator to join us as a key member of the Communities and Partnerships service here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the development, coordination and continuous improvement of volunteering across our library and community services. The role will help ensure volunteering is effectively embedded within service delivery, supporting service sustainability, community participation and positive outcomes for residents.

As Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will oversee and support a borough-wide volunteer workforce, including volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, retention and recognition. You will work closely with library teams, community partners and internal services to develop volunteering opportunities that meet emerging service needs and strengthen community capacity.

You will act as the lead point of contact for volunteering within Communities and Partnerships, providing advice, guidance and support to staff across multiple sites. You will also play a key role in ensuring volunteering activity is safe, inclusive, well managed and compliant with relevant legislation, policies and best practice, including safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and risk management.

This role will involve supporting the effective operation and sustainability of Community Volunteer Libraries, contributing to the Home Library Service, and developing strong partnerships with voluntary sector organisations, community groups and colleagues across the council.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident working across multiple sites and able to build positive relationships with volunteers, colleagues, partners and members of the public. You will be committed to inclusive volunteering and to reducing barriers so that opportunities are accessible and welcoming to diverse and underrepresented communities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
