Volunteer Communications & Community Engagement Manager
The Volunteer Communications & Community Engagement Manager will represent the charity at online meetings, networking events, and suicide prevention forums. The role focuses on developing relationships, increasing awareness of our work, and identifying opportunities that help the us grow.

The Life Matters is a charity dedicated to supporting suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and providing hope and support to individuals and communities. We raise awareness, build connections and support the development and promotion of effective approaches to suicide prevention. We are looking for a passionate volunteer to help secure funding that enables us to expand our impact.

We are looking for someone who
- Has strong research, written communication, and organisational skills.
- Has good attention to detail and can maintain accurate records.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, and handling sensitive subjects carefully.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enjoys meeting new people and building relationships.
- Is confident speaking in online meetings.
- Is organised and reliable.
- Has an interest in mental health, wellbeing, or suicide prevention.
- Can represent the charity professionally and compassionately.

What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor relevant national updates, reports, research, and guidance relating to suicide prevention, young people’s mental health, and wellbeing and produce short, accessible summaries of significant developments for trustees.
- Identify and attend relevant conferences, webinars, consultations, networks, and learning opportunities.
- Research opportunities for collaboration, building relationships with organisations, professionals, and community groups with the potential to partner with the charity.
- Help raise awareness of the charity’s work and mission, promoting the charity’s activities, services, and campaigns through appropriate networks and communication channels.
- Assist with preparing presentations, newsletters, website information, and promotional materials.
- Act as a positive ambassador for the Life Matters.
- Undertake other reasonable administrative or research tasks agreed with the supervising trustee.

Support and boundaries
The volunteer will receive an induction, clear priorities, and regular contact with a nominated trustee. Any research or written material intended for external publication must be approved by the charity before it is shared.
The role does not involve conducting clinical research, providing counselling, responding to people in crisis, or offering professional mental health advice. Appropriate safeguarding guidance will be provided.
The role is voluntary and does not create an employment or trustee relationship. Reasonable, pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the charity’s expenses arrangements.
