About Marie Curie

This is your chance to be a reassuring presence, a friendly face, and a source of comfort for someone navigating one of life’s most challenging journeys.

Role Overview

As a Companion Volunteer, you’ll build meaningful connections by visiting regularly with someone in your community, sharing conversation, and simply being there. It’s the small moments that can make the biggest difference.

Availability

  • 3 hours per week
  • Flexible to suit your schedule

Criteria

  • Aged 18 or over

Locations

  • Armagh
  • Enniskillen
  • Omagh
  • Strabane
  • Derry/Londonderry
  • Limavady
  • Dungiven
  • Belfast

What you’ll do:

  • Spend time each week visiting someone in their home and offering companionship
  • Share a friendly chat, enjoy a cuppa together, or simply sit in peaceful company
  • Give carers or family members a short, well-deserved break
  • Be a calm, reassuring presence when it matters most
  • Help someone express what matters most to them
  • Pass along helpful information
  • Provide kindness and reassurance to families and carers, including through bereavement
