Join our Hospital Companion Service at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital
Are you someone who cares deeply about others and wants to bring comfort when it matters most? Join our Hospital Companion service at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, where you can make a meaningful difference to people with a terminal diagnosis. As a volunteer, you’ll offer emotional support, companionship, and a calming presence to people who need it most.
Each week, you’ll spend time with someone - listening, chatting, and simply being there when they need a friendly face.
Availability
- Up to 3 hours per week
- Time: Flexible to suit your schedule
- Location: Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor LL57 2PW
- Criteria: Minimum 18 years of age

What you'll do
- Visit different patients at the Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital
- Each visit may be with a different person, offering variety and new conversations
- Share a cup of tea, a chat, or simply quiet companionship
- Listen to stories, memories, or just talk about the everyday
- Share helpful info and connect families to local services
- Complete a basic report after each visit
Why you'd be a great fit
- Caring and compassionate nature

- Comfortable with sensitive topics, such as death, dying and bereavement
- Comfortable with email and completing a brief visit report
- Respectful of boundaries and confidentiality
