Work alongside S.W.U.G.’s Lead Treasurer
Work alongside S.W.U.G.’s Lead Treasurer to share financial record-keeping, reporting, and budget preparation. An unpaid, flexible role for a finance professional. No committee seat or signing authority at present.
What difference will you make?
Good financial records and clear reports will help S.W.U.G. make careful decisions, prepare budgets and funding applications, and account for money responsibly as it develops future activities for young people and the community. Working alongside the Lead Treasurer will provide continuity and another experienced pair of eyes on the finance workload without changing the organisation’s current signing or committee arrangements.
What are we looking for?
- At least three years’ relevant professional experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management is essential.
- You should be confident maintaining accurate records, checking income and expenditure, preparing clear financial reports, and supporting budgets.
- Care with figures, confidentiality, organisation, and the ability to explain financial information plainly are important.
- You should work collaboratively with the Lead Treasurer and respect the current boundaries the deputy has no committee seat or signing authority at present.
- Experience of financial controls or not-for-profit finances is helpful.

What will you be doing?
S.W.U.G. (Show What U Got) is a Portsmouth-based, constitution-governed unincorporated not-for-profit preparing future School Edition delivery. We are seeking a Volunteer Deputy Treasurer to work alongside the Lead Treasurer and share the practical finance workload.
Together with the Lead Treasurer, you will help maintain accurate financial records, monitor income and expenditure, prepare clear financial information for organisational reports, support budget and funding-application preparation, and help monitor financial controls and accountability. You will contribute to financial planning so decisions can be based on reliable information. The work should be documented and handed over clearly so the Lead Treasurer and wider leadership can see the current position.

This is an ongoing volunteer role, not a committee seat at present. The Lead Treasurer retains signing authority; the Deputy Treasurer will not sign, authorise payments, or act as a bank signatory. Any future change to committee status or signing arrangements would require a separate organisational decision and appropriate authorisation; it is not part of this opportunity.
The role is unpaid and voluntary. We anticipate around 6–7 hours a week, arranged flexibly, without guaranteed hours. The finance preparation can be done remotely for now, with any later Portsmouth meetings planned in advance. S.W.U.G. is preparing for future School Edition delivery; no school, venue, or event date is confirmed.
