About Us
ESC is a small charity supporting people with endometriosis on the South Coast.
The Role
We need a warm, creative volunteer to help us keep our growing team feeling valued, connected, and supported — through check-ins, recognition programmes, feedback tools, and community-building.
What Difference Will You Make?
Recruiting volunteers is only half the story. Keeping them is what builds a sustainable organisation, and sustainability is what allows ESC to keep showing up for the people who need us.
When volunteers feel seen, appreciated, and part of something meaningful, they stay. They do better work. They bring others in. And they carry ESC's values into everything they do. When they don't feel that way, they quietly drift, and the organisation loses not just their time but their trust.
By taking on this role, you will be the person who changes that. You will create the structures, the moments, and the culture that make ESC a place people want to keep giving their time to. That directly protects the charity's ability to deliver for the people living with endometriosis across the South Coast, many of whom depend on the consistency and commitment of our volunteer community.
What Are We Looking For?
Above all, we are looking for a genuine people-person. Someone who is warm, empathetic, and naturally skilled at making others feel valued and heard. The practical skills of this role can be developed; the instinct to care about how people are feeling is harder to teach.

You will also need to be creative and proactive. This is a new role with no established template, and you will need the initiative and confidence to develop processes, programmes, and ideas from scratch, then follow through on them consistently.
Strong written communication skills are important too. You will be drafting surveys, check-in messages, recognition content, and feedback reports, and the tone you strike will shape how volunteers experience ESC as an organisation.
Experience in volunteer management, HR, employee engagement, or a related field is desirable, as is experience designing and analysing surveys or feedback tools. An understanding of what motivates volunteers and what causes them to disengage would be genuinely valuable. Lived experience of chronic illness or a personal connection to the endometriosis community is always welcome, though never required.
Most importantly, we want someone who shares ESC's commitment to inclusivity, trust, and community, and who understands that how we treat our volunteers is a direct reflection of how we treat the people we exist to support.

What Will You Be Doing?
Endometriosis South Coast (ESC) is a registered charity supporting people affected by endometriosis and adenomyosis. In 2026 we are transitioning to a team-led structure, and as our volunteer team grows, keeping people feeling valued, heard, and connected becomes just as important as recruiting them in the first place.
As Volunteer Experience & Retention Coordinator, you will be the person who makes sure ESC's volunteers love being part of the team. This is a creative, people-centred role with real scope to shape it; it is new, and you will be building it from the ground up.
Day to day, you will:
- Establish and run a regular volunteer check-in process
- Develop and deliver a recognition programme that marks milestones and celebrates contributions
- Design and analyse volunteer feedback surveys
- Support the exit process for volunteers who are leaving
- Work to build a sense of community across the volunteer team, connecting people across different roles
- Collaborate closely with our Onboarding Coordinator to make sure the transition from induction to active volunteering feels smooth
