Volunteer Female ʿĀlimah – Women’s Fiqh (Ḥanafī)
Āthāār is looking for a female ʿĀlimah to join us on a volunteer basis, with a strong grounding in Ḥanafī fiqh and particular knowledge of ḥayḍ (menstruation), istiḥāḍah (irregular/prolonged bleeding) and nifās (postnatal bleeding).
Our work focuses on the intersection of Muslim women’s health, faith and psychology, and we are looking for an ʿĀlimah who can help us provide accurate and sensitive Islamic guidance in matters relating to menstrual health.
The Role May Include:
- Supporting women with questions relating to ḥayḍ and istiḥāḍah
- Helping women understand their individual bleeding patterns from a Ḥanafī fiqh perspective
- Reviewing educational resources for fiqh accuracy
- Contributing to discussions, workshops and resources around menstrual health and Islamic rulings
- Working alongside the Āthāār team where women’s health and Islamic guidance intersect

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has completed a recognised ʿĀlimiyyah programme
- Has a strong grounding in Ḥanafī fiqh
- Has studied the rulings of ḥayḍ, nifās and istiḥāḍah in depth
- Ideally has experience dealing with real-life menstrual fiqh questions
- Ideally has completed, or is undertaking, a Takhassus fi’l-Fiqh (specialisation in Islamic jurisprudence) or equivalent advanced study
- Can communicate sensitive rulings with clarity, compassion and confidentiality
- Understands the distinction between Islamic guidance and medical advice

This is initially a volunteer position, with the potential for paid opportunities in the future as Āthāār’s work and services develop.
This would particularly suit an ʿĀlimah with an interest in women’s health and supporting Muslim women navigating complex menstrual experiences.
