COVENTRY PHOENIX FOOTBALL CLUB, is a United Kingdom–based sports organisation committed to fostering local football talent and community engagement. The club provides opportunities for players of various ages and abilities from Tots - u16’s to develop their skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. It focuses on teamwork, fair play, and personal development both on and off the pitch.
Volunteers play a key role in sustaining the club’s activities and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
Role Description
The Volunteer Football Coach Assistant role is a part-time, on-site position based in Coventry. The coach will assist in training sessions for children aged between 4 - 6 years. Responsibilities include:

- Provide constructive feedback to help players develop core skills, fitness, and social, physical, and emotional development.
- Assist with session plans, organizing equipment, supervising warm-ups and cool-downs, and supporting player safety and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the lead coach, other volunteers, and club staff to maintain a positive, inclusive team culture and uphold club policies and safeguarding standards.

This role is unpaid but offers valuable coaching experience and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the local community.
Qualifications
- Ability to assist in the planning and delivery of engaging football sessions, which are appropriate for younger players (4-6 yrs)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate players, provide clear instructions, and work effectively with lead coaches and club staff.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful environment that promotes teamwork, fair play, and player wellbeing.
- Basic understanding of football, rules, and player development principles.
- Prior coaching or experience of children in this age bracket is highly beneficial.
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage time effectively within a part-time volunteer schedule.
- Willingness to undergo any required background checks and safeguarding training in line with club and local regulations.
- Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., FA coaching badges) are an advantage but not always essential for entry-level volunteers.
