Volunteer Opportunity with Taproot Foundation
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
We are very grateful for the opportunity to receive expert support in developing our Universal Pathway Framework. Please could the initial project focus on creating the structural foundation for a new generation of long-term, holistic educational and developmental pathways. Our vision extends beyond conventional education, skills or employability programmes. We would like a single, coherent, and academically rigorous architecture supporting 2-, 5-, and 10-year pathways, while remaining flexible enough to adapt to different departments, disciplines and individual needs.
Please could the framework establish the core stages, progression logic, sequencing, developmental levels, outcomes and principles underpinning future pathways. We are not seeking separate pathways or detailed curriculum content at this stage. Rather, we would like a Universal Pathway Template from which future pathways can be developed by adding, removing or adapting components without losing the underlying structure, standards or developmental philosophy. We would like the architecture to provide a clear place for academic and theoretical learning, practical and vocational development, employability, professional and personal development, reflective practice, self-awareness, communication, leadership and guided reading/Book Club. Detailed content will be developed through follow-on projects with appropriate subject specialists. Please could the framework also establish principles for assessment, progression and evidence of development, showing how future teams can demonstrate academic, professional and personal growth.

We would be grateful if the framework could be developed to an exceptionally high academic and professional standard—what we describe as “Ivy League standard”—with intellectual rigour, coherence, critical thinking and evidence-informed educational design. Thank you for helping us translate our vision into a credible, practical and scalable foundation for future pathways.
By the end of the project, we would like a fully developed Universal Pathway Framework and master template that becomes the blueprint for all future departmental and specialist pathways. The consultant should then create a comprehensive pathway architecture covering 2-, 5- and 10-year pathways, with clear stages, progression, learning outcomes, sequencing and increasing levels of independence, responsibility and complexity. A key deliverable will be a modular master template allowing departments to add, remove or customise modules, experiences and requirements while retaining the same underlying structure, developmental philosophy, progression standards and quality framework. The consultant should also establish principles for assessment, progression and evidence of development, showing how students demonstrate academic, professional and personal growth throughout their pathway. We would like the framework developed to an exceptionally high academic and professional standard—what we describe as “Ivy League standard”—with intellectual rigour, coherence, depth, critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning and evidence-informed curriculum design.

The initial project should focus on the Universal Pathway Framework and UK implementation principles, rather than building AI, assessment technology or international models. However, the architecture must be future-ready so these can be integrated later. Success means having a detailed, credible and practical master blueprint that can be used to create different departmental pathways of 2, 5 or 10 years, with components easily added, removed or adapted without redesigning the underlying framework.
