Volunteer Group Facilitator
About the Role

Waythrough is seeking a volunteer Group Facilitator to support those who are ready to embrace life substance-free but need some extra support to keep the momentum going.
Tasks
- Support service users who are involved or are abstinent from illicit substances or working towards sustained abstinence.
- Learn and support group work within our sustained recovery team.
- Attend all sessions in a cohort, typically run in batches of 6-8 weeks.
- Help recruit people into the session, give an overview of the group.
- Share a group agreement at the start of each session, including respect and confidentiality.
- Report any concerns, including safeguarding that may arise in the group.
- Work closely with the group worker to plan and evaluate sessions.
- Support service users to develop their own skills and interests.
- Potentially take the lead on facilitating groups.
- Potentially develop new groups and shape the way these are offered to people accessing the service.
- Use SystmOne to record and update service users’ information.
- Potentially facilitate further groups independently across Forward Leeds.
Skills Required
- Good IT skills
- Good written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to keep a track of multiple tasks and report back on progress
- Non-judgmental towards people with lived experience
- Confident to contact people by email/phone
- Good time keeping
- Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to instruction

- A genuine interest in being part of the mission and vision of Waythrough.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies and media guidelines, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training.

Timing
Group timings to be confirmed.
Training
Prior to start date, a volunteer is required to attend the one-day induction workshop offered online or in person. Following start date, volunteers have access to our training platform, workday, and may be asked to complete several training modules applicable to their role within their first 3 months.
