Overview
Responsibilities for the role involve creating a welcoming environment and engaging with rough sleepers/service users through outreach and support activities.
Key Activities
- Create a welcoming environment within our hubs, taking telephone calls and referrals.
- Work as part of a team to target key areas to assertively engage with rough sleepers/service users and respond to referrals where appropriate.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with rough sleepers, empowering them to achieve their goals.
- Carry necessary provisions such as food, paperwork, and other supplies.
- Attend outreach centres, community venues, and satellite services to engage and support service users/rough sleepers.
- Collaborate closely with partner agencies and the wider community, including attending relevant meetings.
- Provide signposting and advocacy for rough sleepers/service users to access support, acting as a central support figure.
- Comply with and be aware of outreach risk assessments/management plans.
- Maintain thorough records of all contacts made.
- Collaborate with staff to identify and remove barriers, ensuring solutions to engage with rough sleepers/service users are found.
- Offer overdose awareness information and provide naloxone kits.
- Provide confidential, non-judgmental advice on substance misuse, safer injecting, overdose prevention and emergency responses.
- Work with the team to re-engage service users who have lapsed from services.
- Conduct home visits to engage service users.

Additional Responsibilities
In performing the duties listed, the successful candidate is expected to:
- Help change Grow Live fulfil its role in delivering the best service for our clients.
- Prove commitment to the volunteering role, doing so to the best of your ability.
- Adhere to change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including observing health and safety protocols and ensuring equal opportunities for all staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Keep all client details strictly confidential, complying with all relevant change Grow Live policies.
- Commit fully to the agreed time requirements and provide reasonable notice if these cannot be met, enabling alternative arrangements.
