Punjabi Speaking Family and Carer Support Volunteer
About the Role
We are seeking passionate Punjabi-speaking Family and Carer Support Volunteers.
Substance misuse issues often extend far beyond the individual, profoundly affecting their families, friends, and loved ones. Those impacted may experience feelings of:
- Anger
- Hurt
- Isolation
- Stigma
- Shame
Taking that first step to seek help can be overwhelming. As a Family and Carer Support Volunteer, your unique experiences of living with or supporting someone affected by substance misuse will provide others with:
- A compassionate space
- Hope
- A non-judgmental, understanding environment Where they can freely:
- Share anxieties
- Express concerns
- Find solace in knowing they are not alone
Key Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will:
- Collaborate closely with Recovery Workers to identify family members and carers who may benefit from additional support.
- Lead the development of a dedicated support group, ensuring active member participation and shaping discussions to meet their specific needs.
- Act as a positive role model and source of inspiration, empowering peers to build resilience and navigate challenges with strengthened confidence for themselves and their families.
- Engage in training and ongoing development – All necessary skills, guidance, and resources will be provided to equip you for this fulfilling journey.
- Receive comprehensive support, including:
- Regular supervision
- Reflective Practice/Clinical Supervision
- 24/7 access to an on-site team member for advice and guidance

Requirements
To be considered for this volunteering role, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Commit to a minimum of two days a week.
- Undergo a DBS check at an enhanced level (funded by Change Grow Live).
