Volunteer Roles | Remote | Profit-Share Indie Games Studio
Are you looking for the opportunity to work on a real game?
Perhaps you're building your portfolio, trying to break into the games industry, or simply want to use your skills to create something alongside other passionate people.
The Gamecrafters' Collective is a remote, profit-sharing indie games studio operating as a cooperative. We bring developers, artists, designers and other creators together to build original games, gain real development experience and share in the upside when those games succeed.
And we're looking for new people to join us.
๐ฎ Unity & Game Developers
You'll:
- Build gameplay systems, mechanics and features
- Develop and integrate UI and supporting systems
- Work closely with artists, designers and other developers
- Help take games from development through to playable release
Ideal if you:
- Have experience with Unity and C#
- Understand gameplay architecture and development
- Enjoy solving technical and creative problems
- Want to build and ship real games as part of a team
๐จ 2D, UI & Concept Artists
You'll:
- Create concept art, characters, environments and in-game assets
- Design UI elements, icons and supporting artwork
- Help establish and evolve the visual identity of our games
- Work closely with designers and developers to bring ideas to life
Ideal if you:
- Have a portfolio that demonstrates your visual skills
- Can adapt your style to different creative directions
- Enjoy iteration and collaborative feedback
- Understand how art contributes to the overall player experience
๐ง 3D Artists & Modellers
You'll:
- Create game-ready characters, props and environments
- Build and optimise assets for real-time use
- Contribute to the visual development and world-building of our games
- Work with developers to integrate assets into the game
Ideal if you:
- Have experience with tools such as Blender or equivalent
- Understand modelling, texturing and game asset pipelines
- Can balance visual quality with real-time performance
- Have rigging experience โ particularly for character work

You'll:
- Create character, creature and environmental animation
- Develop movement that supports gameplay and character
- Work with rigged models and animation systems
- Collaborate with developers to implement animation in-engine
Ideal if you:
- Have a strong animation reel or portfolio
- Understand gameplay-driven animation
- Enjoy bringing characters and worlds to life
- Can work collaboratively and iterate based on feedback
โ๏ธ Technical Artists
You'll:
- Bridge the gap between art and development
- Create shaders, effects and technical art solutions
- Support artists with efficient pipelines and workflows
- Help optimise visual quality and performance within Unity
Ideal if you:
- Understand both the artistic and technical sides of game development
- Have experience working within Unity
- Have knowledge of shaders, vertex manipulation, splines or similar techniques
- Enjoy solving problems that sit between code and art
โ๏ธ Game Writers
You'll:
- Develop narrative, dialogue, characters and world-building
- Work with designers to integrate story into gameplay
- Help create compelling player experiences
- Contribute to the tone, personality and identity of our games
Ideal if you:
- Have examples of creative or interactive writing
- Understand that game writing needs to serve gameplay
- Enjoy collaborative storytelling
- Can write within an established creative direction
๐ต Music & Audio
You'll:
- Create music, soundscapes and audio assets
- Help establish atmosphere, mood and identity
- Work with developers to integrate audio into gameplay
- Support the overall emotional experience of our games
Ideal if you:
- Have examples of your music or audio work
- Understand interactive or game audio
- Enjoy experimenting with sound and atmosphere
- Want to see โ and hear โ your work in a playable game
๐ฃ Community Managers
You'll:
- Help build and nurture communities around our games
- Manage Discord and social engagement
- Support playtests and gather player feedback
- Help communicate development progress to our audiences
Ideal if you:
- Understand gaming communities and culture
- Enjoy bringing people together
- Communicate clearly and authentically
- Can turn community feedback into useful insight for the team

What Makes Gamecrafters Different?

These are volunteer positions and there is no salary.
Team meetings typically take place between 18:00โ21:00 UK time, so you'll need to be able to collaborate within that window.
